Occasionally there has been a request on HAZ for someone to assist in a car shuttle and or comments on HAZ about some one assisting with a car shuttle.
Having just returned to Arizona after being out of State and country for a number of years, being retired and somewhat limited due to a bad knee preventing me from participating on serious hiking and backpacking trips, I occasionally would not mind assisting others in this way.
Perhaps others on this forum also would be willing to perform this volunteer service and maybe Joe B. can create a forum on HAZ to help faciliate such a volunteer service as well. Is there any interest, comments or suggestions regarding this?

SHUTTLE PROVIDER:
1. Specify what area you can cover (eg: Payson, Sedona, Grand Canyon, etc).
2. What vehicle you have and the number of hikers (with gear) you can transport.
3. Roads or terrain your vehicle can handle.
4. How to get in contact with you (eg: PM, email, phone, etc).
5. When you are available/not available.
6. Reimbursement (if any).
HIKER(S):
1. What area are you going to hike.
2. Day, time and place that you will meet.
3. Specify if this is the start of the hike or the finish.
4. If you are part of a group or a single hiker.
5. How to get in contact with you.
6. A detailed description of your hike to include when you are expected to finish.

I was wondering if there was a kind soul that is willing to get me and 2 other HAZers a ride to Rogers Trough trail head so we can hike section 19 of the Az trail. We would need a ride on Saturday Feb 15. The person who was going to give us a ride got called in to work so he is no longer able to shuttle us to the trail head so that is why I am doing this on such short notice. I am willing to pay for gas and bring you some adult beverages of your liking and if that isn't your cup of tea I am sure we can find some way to compensate you for your time. If you are able to give us a shuttle please pm me
Thought I would see if anyone might be interested in shuttling me from Mount Lemmon to Catalina SP on Thursday the 24th. It's a long shot, I know. Probably, I would arrive from the park on top around 4 PM, at the latest.
I may attempt to set this up again in the second half of May, if anyone is interested in either a shuttle, or hike.
I am flying in to Tucson from Denver March 16 at 4pm to start a thru hike of the AZ trail. I am hoping to find my way to the southern terminus of the AZ trail that day. I'm just putting myself out there to see if there are others who may be headed that way or if I could talk to someone about a ride or if someone can point me in the right direction. These are two miles apart. I doubt you'll get any takers to drive out there to save you half an hour of walking! There's plenty of tourist traffic in that stretch, so if you don't feel like a two mile walk on a dirt road, you may be able to hitch a ride.
Canyon Lake what? Trailhead by the bridge next to the marina? Or....?
Tortilla Flat what? The store or the trailhead that takes you to the highway?
If your just talking about the highway (Apache Trail) just stick out your thumb....
If your talking about the road from the old ranch to the highway very few of us have the vehicle to drive it anymore.

Maybe think about getting someone else to go the Opposite Direction and do a Key Swap....

I may be available only on Monday the 2nd of that week.
You may want to consider a loop trip so you will not need a shuttle.
Also pick two routes one in the western part of the Superstitions in case it is cool and or rainy and another one in the eastern part of the Superstitions in case it is hot and sunny. The first week in April can be quite warm or cool depending on the various weather fronts.
PS the apple orchard at Reavis ranch often blooms the first or second week in April and there is more likely to be water in the eastern high country....

What's worse than arriving back at the truck, longingly looking inside the LOCKED vehicle at all that cold beer? More seriously... stuff happens... sometimes plans are forced to change... my motto is 'the vehicle is no good without the key, and the key is of no use without the vehicle - keep 'em together'.
While parked near the ignition point of the Schultz fire while hiking, Sally, who stayed behind while we hiked, moved all 4 vehicles from the fire's path. She was able to because we left each set of keys hidden with the vehicle (obviously the info about WHERE needs sharing). Of course that incident was not the catalyst for the motto, but one can see how it may pay off.
