2018 Fire Season
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty & well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming, "Wow What a Ride!"

@joebartels
I agree.. Although this Site makes things easier for people to find Places, it still takes a lot of Time and Research to find Areas. People had to put that Time in just so those Places could be on here. It doesn't hurt for People to still spend some of their Own Time to find things and get Information. Let's try not to make a Magic Button for Everything. Instant Gratification isn't all it's Cracked up to be....

Re: 2018 Fire Season
Wrong fire...it is the Spring Fire near La Veta Pass. The 416 fire was likely caused by a Durango & Silverton train.DixieFlyer wrote:starting the 416 Fire in Colorado

Clearly, another illegal alien from Mexico or some other south of the border location. Probably, this arson was direct retaliation for Trump's highly successful border security improvements.Jesper Joergensen, 52

Where in the article did it state or even suggest what his nationality was? The article just said that he was not a US citizenJim_H wrote:Joergensen. Oh, yes, sounds very latin to me.

Re: 2018 Fire Season
I was unexpectedly affected by a fire on the Isle of Skye last month. We had returned to within a couple miles of our hotel when we were forced to reverse course an encircle the entire island to reach it from the other side, which took several hours. A bunch of homes were evacuated, along with many backpackers and climbers. The fire was started by backpacker burning toilet paper, which quickly spread to into the heather, which was tinder-dry from a long stretch of abnormally warm, dry weather. It swept across the hilltops and into the forest before dying out. They don't have the equipment or people to deal with big fires. There were wildfires burning elsewhere in Scotland at the same time.

@Alston_Neal
Yup... you can access 300 from the 260 if you want to hike anything up there in Apache-Sitgreaves-- except Promontory.

Re: 2018 Fire Season
Does it seem like there is a smoke layer to the west of the valley? Looking at the sunset, there appeared to be an inversion, and either a dust or smoke haze.
