Hey guys, looking to take my wife and daughter up near Reynolds creek area for a week. Looking to set up a base camp and do a bunch of hikes in the area. Ive overnighted at the TH once but never really explored anywhere else. Looking for a space to set up a 16' canvas bell somewhere in that general area....any suggestions? I do have a high clearance vehicle.
Thanks in Advance

Check out the official route on this "hike". There are several camp sites marked and described.
[ Camp Grasshopper - Sierra Ancha FR235-C/Site#2 ]

I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.

@BRichard
This G/H Campsite #1 will be a better choice for your setup offering more space and privacy as well--> [ Camp Grasshopper - Sierra Ancha FR235-C/Site#1 ]
(G/H campsite #2 location is a much smaller tent site location requiring high clearance and is strictly 4WD with a back locker recommended to access the site. As an alternate if #1 group site is not available, you could park at the end of the road on FR235 at the Billy Lawrence TH, but this site will not offer any privacy as there is a lot of drive traffic in and out on this FR235)..A lot of scenic/historic hikes in this area.. enjoy!)

Re: Basecamp near Reynolds creek
Grasshopper campsite #1 is nice, but might be tough to get a trailer in there, and still high clearance needed. The last 2 miles or so of road to the Billy Lawrence trailhead is strictly 4WD. As a backup plan you could probably plan to park at the Reynolds TH itself.
Better camping options for trailers exist off of the highway, and there is an established campground at honey creek divide.

nonot is correct! I should have asked what a "16' canvas bell" was. I was thinking a big family tent!BRichard wrote: Looking for a space to set up a 16' canvas bell somewhere in that general area...

Re: Basecamp near Reynolds creek
@BRichard I'd settle for Honey Creek Divide.
There are many hikes within a 10-15 minute drive of there, and best of all, there are numerous hiking options right from the campsite.
When we camped there in June 2018 one of our hikes was to Reynolds Creek along Forest Road 3222. On another hike we went the other direction on old FR 3222 past a series of mines over to the Creek Side day-use site along Workman Creek.

@nonot
no trailer, just a truck. i needed a bigger space since i have a larger canvas tent....
