Does anyone know how passable the roads currently are to Doll Baby Trailhead and to Barnhardt Trailhead? Any washouts? Any snow? Can I reasonably expect to get there with a regular sedan or do I need high clearance / 4 wheel drive?
I expect to start my hike March 29th so there's still some time.

Re: Doll Baby & Barnhardt Access Mazatzals
@stevebo
Barnhardt ( FR 419) was in good shape for a car on February 28. If there isn't any rain within a week of March 29 I'd expect it to still be in good shape.
As for Doll Baby, if you don't get any info here on HAZ by then I'd recommend contacting the Payson Forest Service office (928) 474-7900 a few days before for road conditions.

Re: Doll Baby FR406
Recent trips to Doll Baby have been fine, sedan ok. Now if it rains this week you should check.

Re: Doll Baby FR406
I went out to Doll Baby a couple weeks ago, while it was raining. It was pretty muddy and slippery on account of the rain, but it was otherwise fine. There's only one spot where the mud might stick around for a few days.

Re: Doll Baby FR406
If you attempt to get to Doll Baby from the south, FR 414 out of Rye was severely rutted last weekend. It was passable with high clearance (maybe even a carefully driven sedan) when dry, but any new rain and it will be a 4wd mess for sure. It was fine again a few miles in. It was only bad in the first 2-3 miles or so from the 87.
I'm not sure what my spirit animal is, but I'm confident it has rabies.
