Salomon X Ultra 5's on Sale $104

They've been holding at $150 since their introduction in the spring of last year. Now on sale at $104 - if you shop around for "zappatos." (Which is not exactly the way that "shoes" are spelled in Spanish. Hint.)

I ordered some a few days ago. I'll plan to post a short review end of next week.

Yeah, I'm wondering why/worried about the sudden price drop/dump. This model has been out for only a year. (Not even a year in the states, due to delays.) Sounds like they're selling at cost.

Not very many reviews on the non-Gore-Tex mid proper. The X Ultra 5 was supposed to be a return to the original popular X Ultra 3 from 2019, with improvements. (The 4 not being very good.)

I'm wondering if a durability problem suddenly appeared a year after release? (Salomon proper offers a 2 year warranty.) I searched the web tonight to see if anyone is talking/speculating about the price drop, complaining about/reporting critical problems/failures.

Or maybe the return to the Quick-Lace system is hurting them, which users either love or hate?

Well, the retailer I bought from says it has a one year return policy. (But I don't know if that allows use.)

We will see.

Hard to say why. Sometimes I think shoe companies are some sadistic cabal that's out to destroy our feet. Every time I find a useable shoe, it gets discontinued. Then it's months of pain and a bag of wasted money as I try shoe, after shoe, after shoe, until I find another doomed model.

I can't figure Salomon out. It's a French company. I checked their European website and there they offer 3 color choices for the X Ultra 5, including a very tame all black. But here in the states, they offer only one color choice, and one local retailer told me that he didn't carry it because it was too ugly.
