Devils Chasm

Post by NW Hiker »

Hello all,
I'm going to be in the Phoenix area the week of Dec 12th and was wondering, hoping that somebody might be going out to the Devils Chasm area that week. I'm from the NW, but have done some hiking in the Phoenix area. I've read about the ruins in that area and find it fascinating. I do most of my hiking in the NW during the summer. I'm in shape and willing to pay for the gas. If there is anybody interested please email me for more info. Thanks.

In response to NW Hiker's reply: OK, so i'm replying to my own post. I will be in Phoenix next week and am going to make an attempt at finding Devils Chasm. I'm still hoping that someone else may be interested in going. I'm renting a 4 wheel drive vehicle. I would like to do the hike in one long day. The 13, 14 or 15 are the only days I have available. If nobody can go, any suggestions for me going by myself this time of year. I understand if nobody can go with this being the holiday season and not knowing me, thanks for any advise.

Wish I could help but I can't go, be prepared for a little cold (our AZ standards) weather. The hike is pretty vigorous considering it's only a few miles. Follow the little trail along the creek and then up the creek and keep looking up to your right. Eventually you will get a glimps of the ruins on the wall and then you can begin the 1/2 bushwack 1/2 scree climb up to them. I would allow for around 5 hours for the hike.

I would read other peoples triplogs and any descriptions you can find before you go.
