Distance from N Rim Lodge to N Kaibab TH?

Post by Sun_Ray »

Been looking and can't find how far the walk is from Lodge to trailhead. Also is a shuttle available, if yes, where can I find this info?
Thank you, Sun Ray

Yeah I was going to say 2-3 miles. I've been up at that TH on N. Kaibab a few times and never seen a shuttle. Although I think you would be able to hitch a ride with someone 95% of the time. Mostly hiker friendly people up there.

According to the NPS website http://www.nps.gov/grca/pphtml/planyourvisit.html

it says
NORTH RIM: There is no shuttle service on the North Rim.
Different websites say different things about the shuttle.

yeah, but it's the same website

I thought maybe it was an old google archive but you can get to it from the link you found.
Click on "In Depth" then "North Rim" then "Transportation"

http://www.nps.gov/grca/grandcanyon/nor ... tation.htm
this could be an older link as it's dated Jan 2005

From the main lodge to the TH is 2.2 miles per TOPO if you stay on the road. There appears to be a cut off that might take care of the .2 or maybe a bit more.

There is a shuttle in the morning to the trail head and one that comes and picks up people. Most of the time I see it running from the logde to the trailhead. My husband does south rim to north rim every spring and fall and we stay two nights on the North rim and then he goes back to the south rim. And every time that I have dropped him off there are shuttles going there. I believe the sign on the trailhead says North rim lodge 1.5 miles. It goes up the hill next to the trailhead.

If you can do the crossing, getting to the TH shouldn't be an issue :)
