food cache for the Trans Supes hike

Post by te_wa »

SUN 10/28
we are going to drop off some supplies in either Dripping Spring or Randolf Canyon from the Peralta trailhead. It will personally save me about 4 pounds that I dont have to carry- and its best to scope out the dripping springs area for potential campsites and water sources. STEVE, are we meeting at your house? How does 7:30 or 8 sound?

Others have decided to meet at Peralta by 9am on Sunday- Everyone is welcome to hike w/ us if you want to check out the middle Supes- its about 6 miles one-way.

I'll be at the TH at 9

FYI - for caches it is best to have them in metal containers and buried deep. I have had quite a few dug up by various critters and carried away. If you don't want to bury the container, place it in permanent shade and secure it with wire, cable or chain. Best of luck on your venture. Please bring back pictures instead of blisters!
