Hi...I'm going to Phoenix/Scottsdale :-)

Post by Daniken »

Hi everyone... my name is Dani and I am 21 years old. A friend and I are heading down to Phoenix/Scottsdale next week for 8 days and we are interested in doing some hiking. Question for everyone: If you had only about a week in the Phoenix area, what trails would you do and why?!

We are interested in moderate difficulty with maximum views and wildlife. This will be our first time going to Arizona. We will be taking a 2 day trip to Grand Canyon also. I was just wondering if anyone had any information, advice, ideas as to where would be the best trails, or any other activities or stops that would make the most of our trip. :) Or even any other resources? Thanks for all your help. :)

~Dani~ :-)

1st time visitors to Phoenix

Post by Snick33 »

The Apache Trail is a must for 1st time visitors to Arizona. Taking 87,(The Beeline Highway) from Mesa Arizona to 188 East past Lake Roosevelt, then heading South on 88, (The Apache Trail) to Apache Junction is an ideal loop. On the way you have the Reavis Ranch hike that you can do, (description in the TrailDEX). This route gives you plenty of desert vistas, lake views, and mountain views. Outside of the Grand Canyon, or Sedona, I can't think of a more scenic loop of Arizona. Wait I forgot Jerome or Bisbee or Prescott; Hey guys 8 days is not nearly enough time to see Arizona. I've been here 6 years and every weekend is still a new adventure.

Hello Daniken....

Welcome in advance to our fair city.

Personally I wouldn't visit Scottsdale w/o doing the camelback and squaw peak hikes. Its our landmark and a favorite of the locals. Whenever I get guests from out of town, we hit both of em.

Then its off to the superstitions!

Have fun!

I'd probably go to this page
 http://www.hikearizona.com/haz/multiDEX/rated.php
and look for 'Phoenix Region' hikes close to the top of the page

When, why, where, photos and such... just click on the links!

Let us know how your trip turned out when it's over!

Hikes in Phoenix

Post by GTG_AZH »

Well if you folks are going to be here Sunday the 24th, you should join us up to the Flatiron http://www.hikearizona.com/decoder.php?TN=Flatiron. You'll see some truly amazing sights. Our group hikes always turn out to be a blast and we'll treat you like we have known you all along. MightyMousE will be there and she hails from Maine. You might have something to talk about there, who knows. We would be glad to have you along.

Enjoy your visit to our great state.

:P Well, hey, don't worry. These people are for real. We checked them out ourselves and they are the friendliest people in Arizona. No doubt about that. Trust us, listen to everything they have to say and you can't go wrong. We don't have anything to add, only just a note that you are listening to the Voice of Collective Trial Wisdom in Arizona here. No kidding. It's for real.
