A "Fire Rainbow" (very rare occurance)

Post by Grasshopper »

Just FYI... came across this today just passing time. Thought some might find it an interesting and beautiful phenomena: :)
Fire Rainbow
Fire Rainbow
THIS IS A "FIRE RAINBOW" - THE RAREST OF ALL NATURALLY OCCURRING ATMOSPHERIC PHENOMENA.

THE PICTURE WAS CAPTURED ON THE IDAHO / WASHINGTON BORDER. THE EVENT LASTED ABOUT 1 HOUR.

CLOUDS HAVE TO BE CIRRUS, AT LEAST 20K FEET IN THE AIR, WITH JUST THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF ICE CRYSTALS AND THE SUN HAS TO HIT THE CLOUDS AT PRECISELY 58 DEGREES.

Just before six o'clock I witnessed the largest and most vivid complete rainbow I've ever seen in my life around I-10/US60. It stretched from Scottsdale to Ahwatukee.

it was neat to see a double rainbow in Chandler this afternoon...and you could see both ends of each of them! don't get to see those very often in the valley of the

I've seen double rainbows out in the Supes and Apache Junction quite a few times actually. Seen at least three just over canyon lake alone.
