Heard back from your friend yet? Planning a trip up there next weekend, and would like to know what to expect as we get to the higher elevations toward the ski area.

Re: Catalina State Park to the ski area in March?
couple days around 90 here this week oughtta take care of most of that.
sorry i missed the earlier stuff here. I did this 7h, 15min before but that's not gonna happen this time. It will take a while. Route finding is a pain in a couple sections here, though more eyes will be helpful. Let's plan on 9 hours to be safe?
keep in mind it's a little over 7100 feet up, so let's get on our treadmills/bikes/climbers and go nuts!
this one will be a blast!

Re: Catalina State Park to the ski area in March?
My buddy from Phoenix wanted to go until I told him it would be like climbing Squaw Peak 7 times in a row. I left out the part that it would be double the distance.
On another note does anyone have GPS besides rljamy?
There are 2 other people who plan on going who haven't registered: my roommate and my buddy John from Tucson

Re: Catalina State Park to the ski area in March?
I thought this was a shuttle hike.
Squaw x 7(round trip) = 16.8 miles and 8,260 in gain. I figured this trip was about 14-15 with around 6k gain. I quess it depends on the route chosen up or over and up. ;). I know you meant squaw one way 7 times.

Re: Catalina State Park to the ski area in March?
Going down this would SUCK, especially lower Sutherland which is very rocky. My feet were just gored senseless coming down this part on my big 50 year-Baby Jebus Loop. I can't imaging how much worse it would be after coming all the way down lemmon. I'd come down Romero if I had to.

I didn't know there were triplogs and a route on this until about 5 minutes ago. Are we taking the route posted by davis2001r6?

I like davis' route. It's worth it to add a bit of distance to go through the Wilderness of Rocks

UMMMM...I posted that route. It was the first one I ever posted, here
; no, we're going the way Nick went a few years back...involving Sutherland.

Actually, wait a minute. This is James' trip; if you want to go the way I went, I'm down. Wilderness makes an awesome lunch spot.

Re: Catalina State Park to the ski area in March?
It's 6 in one hand, half-a-dozen in the other as far as I'm concerned. Sutherland looks to be a bit shorter, correct?
