Would you trade....

Post by Cakewalk »

OK... We live in the desert ( most of us ).... For some reason or another we are here.

It hasnt rained yet this year.
We cannot enjoy most of the state due to drought.
We cant really go outside for more than an hour due to the extreme heat.
We may be facing rolling blackouts this year to due energy cunsumption.
Vanilla Coke is nasty.

But would you trade it all to live somewhere else?

Nope... Not me!

You?

Olesma, aka HAZ BAD FART BOY

I'm sure I'm merely lending you the title; no doubt Teva Joe, aka Bandit  Joe will re-bestow the title on me first chance he gets :!:

Dr. Pepper, it's still good, but it doesn't taste like it used to!
Gee, I wonder why...

Cause it's NOT bottled by COKE anymore

They sold the name but not the formula :!:
That's why nobody in their right mind would be a "pepper" anymore!

It's prune juice anyways.... ICKY!

and you thought it was cherries!

A-1 steak sauce is RASIN juice.... ICKY! Read the label folks!
Sorry Teva, but I got to call you on this one.

I saw something on TV the other night about Dr Pepper, and it reminded me of this topic. Dr. Pepper is not owned by Coke, it belongs to Dr Pepper/Seven Up, Inc, which is owned by Cadbury Schweppes. And, there is not one drop of prune juice in Dr. Pepper, never has been. That's an urban legend that has been around for a very long time.

And, yes, you're right, raisins are one of the ingredients in A1, but to say that A1 is raisin juice is a bit of a stretch. There are a number of other ingredients in it.

Anyway, what's wrong with raisins and prunes??

The controversy has been stirred!!

Well, that just ditched one of our favorite slang terms. Whenever my friends and I go out we always offer each other a Pepper by saying "The juice of prunes?" Oh, well. It still sounds good - even if it ain't true.

Anybody remember the California Raisin comercials of the mid 80's? That right there is a good reason to like raisins.

Go back and look, I said it's not botttled by Coke.

You're right Dr Pepper isn't pure prune juice. It's carbonated

You're right, I misread it, sorry.

BUT... You're wrong about the bottling, too. Coke does bottle Dr Pepper.

This is from Dr Pepper's website:
Q: Isn't Dr Pepper/Seven Up owned by a major cola company?
A: No. While Coke and Pepsi are bottling partners that produce and deliver a substantial amount of our soft drink volume to retailers, neither owns DPSU. DPSU is a wholly owned division of London-based Cadbury Schweppes plc.
Dr Pepper makes the concentrate, then distributes it to the bottlers, like Kalil, and Coke. Coke has never owned the formula for Dr Pepper, nor the name. Why would they bother trying to imitate Dr Pepper (remember "Mr Pibb"?) if they had the formula? Mr Pibb is good, but it doesn't taste like Dr Pepper. (That's probably because they put prune juice in Pibb!) Carbonated or not, prune juice is not an ingredient of Dr Pepper.

Your turn!

After reading the many posts on this topic, I can only say one thing..... hikers with entirely too much time on their hands! I have never known so much about soft drinks in my life until now. Yikes...we need to get some more rain and get back on the trails before this turns into Teva's Consumer Reports pages. LOL. ( I do enjoy everyones creative wit though, it takes the edge off an even more idiotic work day)
Glad I put the Vanilla Coke back on the shelf that day I was tempted to try it.
