Olesma has some free time...

Post by olesma »

Well - this Wednesday marks not only my wife's birthday (her last one ever from what I understand - she'll be 29  ) - but also the date of my unemployment. My contract with Intel expires on that day. Due to budgetary constraints (i.e.: their budget is in the toilet) they were unable to extend my contract further or hire me.

Not to worry - I have a few options in the wings, but if anyone has some good sources of employment or business contacts - I would appreciate it.

This will also give me a little time (not too much hopefully  ) to do some early morning hiking - so if anyone goes out regularly during the week - I may be willing to grace you with my cheery presence.

Anyone except Hoolie. No soup (chili) for you!!!

By the way: I am an instructional designer/courseware developer and trainer. I specialize in web based training.

SandeJ's right...we have entirely too much time on our hands!
Sorry to hear you're gonna have even more; think we discussed at the chili shindig how short sighted major corporations are when it comes to budget constraints; first thing to go is usually that which, in the long run, is most needed...training! Oh well, 'til the next opportunity comes along, happy hiking and extra time with the young one.

I am looking forward to that. That and spending some more time with my wife - I'll probably drive her crazy inside of a week - but hey - she's the one that married me....

Olesma, More for fitness than for pleasure (I suppose depending on how you look at it you could combine the two), my daughter and I do the Summit trail at Squaw Peak for a warm up and then with no plan in mind run the other trails for about an hour every Wed (unless the gods deem otherwise) at 4:45. Your welcome to join us.

NO CHILI FOR YOU! 8O

nah, sorry to hear about the unemployment slow slug, but I have a good feeling about an outgoing trainer like you! Hopefully, for your wife's sake, someone'll snag you up in no time.

Just remember if you get up with the baby, wash and dress him (in matching clothes), prepare a healthy breakfast and coffee to present wife while waking up with a kiss. Then make the bed, wash the dishes, windows and floors, wipe down the kitchen and bathroom, vaccuum and dust, start the laundry, write a shopping list, go shopping with list (don't forget milk, bread, eggs, cereal, ice cream) meanwhile fill up the car, get a car wash (due to monsoon), get home by noon, feed baby, put down to nap, swap laundry loads, then I'm sure you'll have time to re-write that resume, network at a power lunch and confirm that interview.

Good luck on the job hunt. I'm sure I've inspired you

Kelly

fyi-not sure if this falls in your "job" but you might check at American Express and Wells Fargo. Both have "training dept.'s but I'm not sure if their web based.

So - if I'm unemployed, it's the perfect time to give my wife a vacation, that's what you're telling me? Not a bad plan - except that as soon as I do all that stuff - then screw it all up - I'll just get fired from another job....

Olesma, I am inspired by your willingness to at least contemplate my suggestions! However, you may have a point, maybe you should just stay out of her way and assist where needed :D

That is EXACTLY what I am saying.

Men have the greatest scam going...we go to work and sit at a desk, or do manual labor of some sort - (doesn't really matter what it is we do) then come home and complain about how HARD we worked that day. Secretly, inside, we're darned grateful that we at least got to deal with semi-rational humans (management excepted) and didn't have to deal with kids all day.

And they pay us for that crap. Go figure.

My wife works twice as hard as I do - but she gets paid throught the love of a dear boy and the unending admiration and love of her husband.

My daughter claims that's an oxymoron....and I raised
her :!: Sheesh :P

Somewhat apropos:
Try not to laugh too hard, Ladies!!

One day my housework-challenged husband decided to wash his sweatshirt.Seconds after he stepped into the laundry room, he shouted to me, "What
setting do I use on the washing machine?"

"It depends," I replied. "What does it say on your shirt?"

He yelled back, "Oklahoma State."

(And they say blondes are dumb!!! ;-)
