Perhaps Google will pick it up and get some future hooks. What kind of hikes did you do?

Re: Shea Hiking Club
Larry Ritter was the moderator. We met once-a-week after school to discuss a relevant hiking topic: nutrition, safety, etc. We did hikes about once-a-month. In alternating years the club would do Havasupai or the Grand Canyon for a week. We did GC when I was in 8th grade, and Havasupai in 7th. It was primarily backpacking with a good # of training hikes like Squaw Peak mixed in. Some of the backpacks we did were Horton Creek, Arcadia to Shannon (?) in the Pinalenos, Chiricahua Nat'l Monument, Sabino Canyon, and Reavis Ranch. Very cool. A few of my fellow club-mates' parents including my mom still organize outdoor trips for themselves.

Re: Shea Hiking Club
That's pretty neat!
I help out with mostly middle school kids in a group where we do wilderness medical, we do some hiking, we go to mtn bike races in CO and UT to do first aid, we practice rappelling, and also get called out for search and rescue. It's called Apache Rescue Team. It's been around for about 15 years or so, and a lot of kids who came out of the program have gone on to get outdoors-type jobs, or EMT, etc.
Programs like that generate the best memories for kids!

That trip to Reavis was about 1987 or 88. Signee probably would have been Larry Ritter
