Sunrise is calling for a fair amount of snow. Something like at least 4-8 inches

Well, I live 25 miles from Sunrise, and this morning woke up to wet streets. It isn't terribly cold here at 7,000. But I do expect there has been some snow up higher.

I'll let you know more later on in the day. I am trying to think of a good hike nearby that won't be too muddy. Or, I will just hike in the mud, what the heck. I have a lot of work to do at home this weekend, but will try to get out there a bit, also.

What i also noticed is looking at a couple weather maps is that next week there is supposed to be another storm and it looks like the temperatures are staying low also. Then nevermind with sunrise they just changed it to like 1-3 today and 1-3 tonight.

They won't open Sunrise anyway, until they put down the artificial snow and also it has to stay reasonably cold for awhile so it won't melt. We've had such unseasonably warm, dry weather up until now.

Sunday 8 a.m. 26 degrees. NOAA weather forecast calling for sunny day with a high of 39, light breeze of 8 mph. However, it is still all socked in here. Feels like it's going to snow. I'm going hiking, anyway.

Dry weather is forecast into early December, and to date Flagstaff has had 8.56 inches of precipitation this year, which is 12.04 less than normal. It looks like December will be the deciding month for 2009 as to its rank in the "driest year on record" list. So far, it's on track to be the driest since our records began in 1899.

Flagstaff daily climate summaries.

It's pretty ugly out there. I drove to Tucson on Saturday morning, and the air was very murky. Looked like a lot of dust with possibly smoke. We need some precip in a bad way.

I am selfishly very happy with the dry weather here in the White Mtns. As for precip, we didn't do too badly this year. Not the best, not the worst. We had a lot of rain in May and September. We've had one snow so far, in October. Creeks are still running, pretty much.

looks like another storm is moving through Arizona. Most mountain ranges are calling for 3-5 inches.

We cut 3 pickup truckloads of firewood today as the clouds moved in. Spit a little rain and snow on us, but not enough to get us wet. Now it has cleared up a bit, there is a lot of sky showing. Go figger... Maybe it will roll in tomorrow.

It looks like the bigger storm is in the southeastern part of the state and its showing up to ten inches in the pinalenos, chiricahuas, and Mount Lemmon.

We've had cloudy skies, a very cold breeze, and no precip as of 2:45 p.m. today. Last night there was a light dusting of corn snow, about the size of rock salt. The higher mtns are all socked in, they probably got a little snow. I'll have to check the Sunrise webcam.

...about 6" to 8" on the mountain here at 9,000'... and still falling. Might get heavier tonight. Glad I've moved down to 4500'.. just light drizzle there. I start training again tomorrow... clear, dry trails would be nice.

Snow on the ground today on Mingus Mountain in the shady areas. It doesn't look there was more than 3-4" of accumulation.

I'd say we had 2 or 3 inches in Flagstaff and it hasn't yet melted off around my place. It looked like there was less at the base of Mt Elden, or it got warmer and melted away fast, as there was hardly any left on the ground at the trailhead when I got back to my car at 4 today.
