KML files from HAZ in Google Earth - Problems.

I've been trying to open some of the posted GPS routes in KML format using Google Earth, and none of them will open.

I'm using the newest version of Google Earth.

The error I get is "Unexpected element 'kml'"

I have found some KML files posted in some forum posts, and those opened fine. But all of the ones posted under the GPS routes section of HAZ will not open.

Anyone got any advice.

You can load the gpx files, I just tried it out.

I'll take a look at Google's kml format. I never messed with it before because Google Earth is buggy in linux.

The KML files should be fixed now. They're currently being reformulated by the server now. All should be available and working in about an hour.

Hmm. I'm still getting the same error message. Believe me, this could very well be a "user error". ;)

That happens with me as well- I download the gpx file and convert it into .kml with www.gpsvisualizer.com and open it that way. Choose Google Earth in the drop-down menu for output format.

I've tested this in Linux and Windows without issue. Please attach the file that's not working. thx
