I've always thought our individual profile page kind-of already allows for this via the occupation and interests sections. Very few seem to use it though.
(maybe change the "interests" section to "introduce yourself with interests")
Steve_602. The best way for us to know you is to fill in your profile with some hikes you've completed. Add some wishes. Classify yourself for matches and look for some events that you feel comfortable with.

Not just any gear addiction - an ultra super mega lightweight gear addiction. I am always amazed by the new things I learn from Te-Wa - a wealth of information. Thanks again Mike.
Anybody can make a hike harder. The real skill comes in making the hike easier.

I'm Stacey never posted in the forum before. I don't get much time to hike so I mostly live vicariously through everyone else. Thanks to all for sharing your adventures, and a BIG thanks to Joe for a great site!

And Al_Hikes and te-wa aren't kidding. I once picked up the HAZ wrecking crew after one of their multiple day jaunts through the Superstitions and when I lifted out te-wa's pack from the rear of my van I exclaimed, "Hey, this pack is empty!". And everyone exclaimed, "Thats te-wa's pack!".

I lurked here for years before I jumped in with both feet (as it were). Lets just say that I found the forums needed a bit more reason, a dash more breadth and a healthy dose of estrogen. The ladies here certainly represent - but were badly outnumbered. Now, having been posting for a while, I've realized that they never really needed my help...
It's always good to have a new perspective, however!
