Tagged Bears?

Post by GTG_AZH »

We were camping last night in Tucson at Spencer Campground. Around 3:00 AM something shuffled quickly through camp with a metal tag/tags on. It's breathing was loud and quick. I think it was either a large dog or a bear. Does anyone know what the tags on bears are made of? I have always seen them as plastic or a nylon piece affixed to an ear or both.

Any help would be appreciated.

years ago I was camped up on Mount Lemmon and a bear came into our camp. It was really exiting to see a bear. didn't see any tags tho.

Couple of years ago I was camping at Rose Canyon Lake campground. Sleeping on the ground I was awakened by people throwing pine cones at me to advise of a bear apx. 20 feet away. I woke up, got out of my sleeping bag and barked at the bear. It ran off and the next morning when I woke up the people in the adjacent campsites had set up around me. I don't think they tag bears with metal tags, since you were in a campground it may have been someone letting their dog out, this has happened to me.

GTG fess up, were the empty kegs still there in the morning?
How much did you drink and what else did you see

I checked on the mega search and couldn't find anything. Though I did learn alot about beanie babies, the two bear limit in Oregon and that California had poor hunting turnout in 1999.

Once I get my search-engine-ear-piece patented I'll be hitting Jepordy and other game shows to clean up

Don't have to ask, I already know... How's the trip going?

Did anyone see the story about the little girl killed by a bear in N.Y. today? Pretty sad story: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,60812,00.html

drinks and such

Post by GTG_AZH »

I didn't have that much to drink, and it was worn off by 3:00 AM. :?

Don't even ask Linda about my skunk sightings lat year in Sedona while camping. 8O

No kegs to roll around on, just white trash neighboors with kids yelling at 5:45 AM for mama.

Sorry, I did not mean to offend any color of trash reading this.

And I thought I was the only person with the kind of luck to end up at a campsite next to the family with the solar shower and the portable generator running so they can catch NASCAR from the campsite!

On our cross-country trip this summer, staying at Natural Bridges National Monument, we were delighted when our camp neighbors were able to find a cell signal by standing on the table...I'll bet you can't guess the first line of each of the 20 or so calls they made...

(yelling into the phone)" guess where I'm calling you from?????our campground!"

Colin, You missed it! You see, some folks have secret code words and phrases. When you stand on a picnic table and hollar out "I'm calling from a campground" it has a special meaning. They were wanting you to startup and rev a chainsaw, dirt bike, or unmuffled truck! If you'd only known and had a 250 Husky to rev, they would have jumped up and down and waved their arms in appreciation!!!

they'll do it every time

Yep, ck1 when those folks got home from their camping trip, they had stories to tell about the quiet jerks in camp next to them, with no phones or televisions.

I wish I'd known about the secret codes...I thought it was mullett code for "look at me, I'm an idiot"....but again, I'm wrong.

I'll know better next time....maybe I should spend Labor Day weekend camping near the Waterwheel outside Payson...betcha there will be lots of secret codes!
