Naturist/nudist hiking
What are your views on naturists/nudists? Has anyone come upon a naked hiker/camper and what was the outcome ?

Re: Naturist/nudist hiking
What is really hilarious is if you go back to the first page of this thread, posted by Tom, an apparently unclothed hiker from Lake Havasu, who posted only 3 times on HAZ, and presumably has no idea his topic got so popular.
Even funnier: At the bottom of his post there is an email address and two web addresses. One of the web addresses seems to be defunct or misspelled, the other takes you to to a CHRISTIAN CHILDREN'S SCHOOL'S WEBSITE!!!
I have half a mind to send an email to the email address, see if there is any response...

Re: Naturist/nudist hiking
Couldnt help myself when i saw this..
GENEVA - A Swiss man fined for nude hiking has won an appeal of the 100-franc ($87) penalty because a court decided that the charge of "indecent behavior" did not apply.
Prosecutor Christian Boetschi says he has not decided whether to appeal the Friday decision. The ruling should not be seen as giving blanket permission to hike nude in the area, he said.
Hiking naked off busy trails is not a crime in Switzerland. But the unidentified hiker chose a path that passed a Christian rehabilitation center and a woman reported him to police.
He told the court that he had been hiking naked for two years without problems.
"We're not exhibitionists, we just want to be free," said the hiker's legal representative, who is also a nude hiker and asked not to be named because to protect his family members from harassment.

Re: Naturist/nudist hiking
I'm not so sure this ultralight backpacking clothing is right for me. I'm starting to fear that some of my uber expensive ultralight backpacking clothes are becoming so light with this new nanotechnology that they are almost invisible.
And this clothing is very expensive. If I'm wearing invisible clothes am I hiking nude? Does intent matter? I don't intend to hike nude but what if my clothes are invisible.
I put them on and button them up and zip them up. I even put the hood up over my head. They get great reviews in all of the ultralight blogs. But I'm not so sure they keep me as warm as they claim or keep the rain off as well as they claim. I think I'm going to wear a few extra ounces just to make sure that my clothes aren't invisible. I don't want some kid to look and me in my uber expensive nanotechnology ultralight clothes and say "Mom is that hiker wearing any clothes?" Better to be safe than sorry. Honest your honor - I wasn't hiking nude, I was just wearing this ultralight nanotechology invislble clothing.

After having been surprised by meeting others nude I would have to say no. Its very uncomfortable for those of us caught off guard.

This is ambiguous. Were you meeting others in the nude, or were you in the nude, meeting others? And caught off guard which way?david_allen_3 wrote:After having been surprised by meeting others nude I would have to say no. Its very uncomfortable for those of us caught off guard.

Re: Naturist/nudist hiking
I'll take that question!
Liz, I spent enough years in the service being around other naked dudes. It didn't matter at the time but the fact is no guy out for recreation wants to run into another naked guy, myself included. He just doesn't. No one else is willing to say it but they are thinking it. This has absolutely nothing to do with sexual persuasion, being conservative, or laws, etc. It's about decorum and decency.

Re: Naturist/nudist hiking
I have never come across a nude hiker but it wouldn't bother me. I have a wide comfort zone. Considering the pin striping I get on my arms and legs, I doubt I'd hike in Arizona without something protecting my bits.
