I was going to be going down that trail on those days half to see the canyon and half to fish Bright Angel Creek. I figured I'd see if anyone, on such short, notice wanted to join me going down as those dates hardly seem to be booking at all.
Gonna do rim-cottonwood campground-bright angel campground-cottonwood-rim. Figured it would be a little less strenuous way to see the canyon for my first time (although trust me I know it's still going to be quite strenuous on the last bit of the way out). Keep in mind we are easily expected to get quite high temps down there at this time of year but if you have the sun protection and are brave enough and acclimated enough should be fine. I will be starting my hike before sunrise anywho to beat as much of the heat as possible that way I'm fishing in the nice cool water in the heat of the day. Water shouldn't be a problem as there are several stops of water on the upper stretch then you hit bright angel creek which you can filter out of or treat for the rest of the trail. And remember that this trail will tear your legs apart on the last bit of the way out.
If anyone wants to come though let me know soon as I am going to confirm my reservation dates either tomorrow or the day after and I can grab an extra spot as I'm sure it will be open. At least one nice thing about the heat though is you hardly have to pack anything in terms of sleeping gear.

I wish I tolerated heat better, I'd join you! I'm in really good shape right now, too! I haven't done that hike yet. However, I just know myself, it would probably not be a good idea for me--I tend to get bad headaches/migraines in the heat.
