I might do this hike if it was a 4 day-er... you all are nutz! But I :worthy: to you for even contemplating it, much less completing it in one day. I need lots of :wlift: and then I might be approaching your league.

Just picked up this bad boy yesterday. 192 lumens! At 6.8 oz its not exactly light but dang is it bright! Supposedly it can spot a cairn at 225 meters away.

Should we form a another group for the HAZ-SAR team? :) Seriously, though... if anyone thinks it'd be helpful to set up a water station at one of the TH's or trail intersections, I'm sure a there's a few of us that might be willing to assist if given the preferred locations and time. Also, if HAZ wants to capitalize on the insanity-- a press release might get some eyes on the site. Just sayin'... ;)

There will be water at Reavis, the problem is that it is 2/3rds of the way from Peralta, rather than being nicely located at the halfway point. I'm hoping for a wet fall so that either Rogers Canyon or the creek along Froggy is flowing. There may be water off-trail in Froggy, but as Harvey said - don't hike towards water...hike from it.

Te-wa's plan to setup a bail-out option at Woodbury is a darn good one IMO, you may want to coordinate with him.

:welcome: Rose, good to see you on the site.

Hope to see you post some trip reports and photos in the future.
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

too bad....well at least I know my Coyotes hat will be safe this trip. Rose tried to steal it on Mazzy Peak and then said she wouldn't give it back to me unless I carried her pack. [-X

An update from the overnight backpack option side of things. I also have this trip posted at ABC as an overnighter. So far there are 7 people signed up. That list includes at least 3 people from this community: Drewboy, AZMike and Al_HikesAZ. From the shuttle logistics point of view it looks (so far) like a couple of cars will be necessary. I'm still planning on a Reavis camp day 1 unless more rains hit. Great suggestion Joe on Randolph - that really simplifies the route. I expect we'll be seeing some of the single day hikers at Reavis about the time we are finishing up our morning coffee. :wlift:

I'd suggest heading down Randolph Canyon from the JF vs. the Woodbury if you are using the southern route.

Oops! Sorry Kurt. Guess I better read threads more carefully next time. :guilty:

I've never done Randolph before, am looking forward to checking it out.

I was jokin' Andy....... :D

Yep - Randolph is a nice variation and I would suspect that there will be a pool or two left in there as well; right around 33 25 11 x 111 14 20.
The portion of Randolph immediately upstream of the Red Tanks turn-off is especially pretty, and you'll see where the Red Tanks trail gets its name.

Yep...... Joe is getting a little too God-like around here - we need to help him stay grounded. ;)

Andy, regrettably (to a degree) I'll be in Aravaipa that W/E (scheduled 4 mos. ago).
My hiking partner, Tim and I hiked a trans-Sups from Reevis School to FW about 8 years ago and used Randolph to the Red Tanks on our adventure. We hiked after the early rains of spring and could have done the trip with just a coffee cup for water - it was everywhere (Randolph was even a running stream)!
We again used Randolph on the last E-W trans-Sups adventure, with Chris, Wally, Squirrel-Mike, Bonnie and others. I never look forward to hiking Red Tanks - be sure that you are not at the Red Tanks/Labarge canyon intersection in the dark - you'll be there a while.

Well... he likes off-trail hiking... So, technically, I guess that 'pavement' is off-trail.
Was there a vehicle malfunction involved....?
