Grand Canyon Hikers Symposium - 2010

Post by Al_HikesAZ »

The Grand Canyon Hikers and Backpackers Association announced the upcoming Symposium.
http://www.gchba.org/hikers_symposium_2010.asp
"The fourth Grand Canyon Hikers Symposium: Echoes and Reflections will be held Saturday October 9, 2010, 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Shrine of the Ages in the Grand Canyon National Park, South Rim Village. The symposium is open to the public and free of charge.

The purpose of this symposium is to share hiking, climbing and backpacking exploits and explorations in the Grand Canyon, as defined by the geographical region from Lee's Ferry to the Grand Wash Cliffs, rim to rim. The presentations will include day hikes, climbs and overnight backpacks on the corridor trails and surrounding area, historical trails such as the North and South Bass, Tanner, Grand View and any number of Grand Canyon routes. It will be similar in format to the 2006 Hikers Symposium. You can also view video clips of the 2006 Symposium.
The speakers and trips look incredible.
These look intriguing to me:
Dennis Foster, Getting to Kolb Natural Bridge
Bill Ferris, Crazy Jug to Phantom
Rich Rudow, Circumnavigation of Powell Plateau by Foot, Rope, and Raft
Todd Martin, Canyons Within Canyons Within the Grand Canyon - The Redwall Narrows of Tuckup Canyon
Carl Bowman, Grand Canyon Trail of Time
Peter Borremans, Fishtail Mesa
Chris Forsyth, Clear Creek to Asbestos

and more.
Anybody can make a hike harder. The real skill comes in making the hike easier.

Wow, looks great. At least 9 nine of us will be trying to shoot the fall colors on the Peaks that day, however...
