HAZ Trail ID

Post by ck_1 »

I had a thought...it might not be a good one (and if it isn't I'm sure you all will let me know :D )....but...what do you think about figuring out some way to identify ourselves as HAZ members when out on the trail...not like a name tag or anything, but, there are quite a few of us who hike the same areas, and once in a while I think I recognize someone from here, but am unsure, and don't want to come across as the psycho guy on the trail by approaching the person...it's kinda an awkward thing...

I know there are the t-shirts...however I don't know about anyone else, but I don't hike in mine...it's in the "good" t-shirt drawer, the ones without stains and such

The only thing I thought of that might work and would also be useful would be a bandana...it could be worn of course, but it could also be tied to a trekking pole or to the back of a pack, so it'd be visible to other hikers...it would have to be a distinguishable color, or have an obvious design or something like that...

I don't know...it was just a thought...I keep thinking I might be on the same trail as Joe and not know it was he, thus missing my brush with greatness :GB:

The yellow Bandana would match my hat! :D

Either way, count me in.

Well... I found a location for some really inexpensive bandannas (~2.00). I think it has to come down to a vote. I have no flippin' idea how to do it. Colin?? can you do the honors? Joe?

The choices (from what I have gathered) are flutin' kokopellis or AZ state flag bandannas... or... patches??

Anyone find any better prices??

Does anyone feel real strongly one way or another what the bandana should look like? I know I don't really care, as long as it's not one that we see every day. I think the AZ flag would work fine and should be pretty easy for people to pick up around town. If no one has a strong disagreement with this, lets just go with it.

As for patches/hats, if you'd rather do that then a bandana, just do it. If you have a HikeAZ patch or hat, I know you are a member. If you have a AZ flag bandana, I know you're probably a member. If you write "I'm a HikeAZ member" on your forehead in black permanent marker I'm going to know you're a member, but I'll probably hide my flag and avoid you because you are a freak. Either way, the goal of easily identifying yourself as a member is accomplished.

Maybe the black permanent marker is the best solution

Let's make a decision soon ok??

Post by sherileeaz »

In reference to:
Good Idea sherileeaz, but this isn't the first time this idea has popped up.
Maybe this will be the impetus for you guys to come up with the final solution.
(my favorite is still the AZ flag bandana)

Let's make a decision regarding identification for HAZ members.
Maybe get a poll going, narrow down the ideas. But let's come up with something ok?
:)

Thanks,

please see:

It looks like the 'AZ bandannas' have it.
