Spring Creek Ranch south of Young

Post by Davidbmoore »

Hi Im new to the group. We are opening our property in the Tonto nat. For. for renters. Is this ok to post here? We have a main house that can be used as a base camp also bunk houses and open air cabins for those who want largere groups and less luxury. Property features a year round flowing Spring Creek and tons of hiking. Let me know if this annoucement is not proper. If it is ok id like to announce an overnight check us out. but Ill wait and see the response

@Davidbmoore
:welcome: You might be interested to know that one of our HAZ members was out to your Spring Creek Ranch area back in Oct'10 and posted a short HAZ Hike Description--> http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=15760 along with a triplog and some interesting history--> http://hikearizona.com/TL.php?ID=55187

Will you now be opening your Spring Creek Ranch for renters planning overnights only, or will possible no charge day visits (for hiking, picnicking, pics) now be allowed?

Also, you can post a Spring Creek Ranch information link for those interested and/or provide a more detail post.

Thanks for the Info Grasshopper and I did see SSK44 mentioned a hike. We are looking for large groups like Boy Scout, Girl Scout, Churches to rent. To costly for us to rent with less thank 15 people, unless Im invited :) I appoligize for posting in the wrong area. Also the Houdon ranch is not ours (I believe) ours was Homesteaded by Jim Sam Hought and he built the rock house. Our parcel on Spring Creek is at the base of Jim Sam Butte. Still trying to see who had it before Jim Sam, I think the Houdon ranch was further north on the Creek where the Mine is.

Cheers

Feel free to post your contact info and any additional requirements related to rental. HAZ has Boy Scout/Girl Scout/Church leaders who might be interested in your group rentals. Your remote Sierra Ancha Mtns property is in a beautiful location. SSK44 and I were in your area this past 5/14/11 on a day trip to hike to the summit of Jerky Butte and then over to Rock Creek Canyon to view that old homestead area :) .

Is this the approx location of the old Houdon Ranch?: http://hikearizona.com/map.php?QX=861 (Brown teardrop location 1 being the mine area and location 2 being the possible cabin area). If so, do you know if that cabin is still standing and if there are any other historic ranch artifacts to view? Thanks!

I Hiked years ago from the ranch to find the mines, with no luck. I did see two remains of log cabins on the south side of the creek about where your #1 Pointer is. No Idea about the #2 pointer. But would love to join you if you go. I definitely could be wrong about Houdons. I do think there was more than one Spring Creek Ranch. Im trying to find it out now. Thanks
