Depart Tucson Monday October 10th anytime and head east on I-10 to Lordsburg, Nm and then head north to Silver City, NM. From there north close to the Gila Cliff Dwellings where we will park the truck at the TJ Corral TH. Driving time is between 4 - 5 hours. From the TJ Corral TH we start our 7 mile hike through little bear canyon to the middle fork of the Gila where the trail then crosses the river multiple times before arriving at Jordan Hot Springs. Spend Tues 11th relaxing around camp, soaking in the hot springs, or exploring the trail further north and checking out the river. I'm open as far as departing date, we can hike out Wed 12th, or on Thurs 13th.

Is that TH open? Someone posted earlier that the area near the ruins was in bad shape.

I just assumed the area was fine. Thanks for the heads up, guess I'll look into going some where else.

I was planning a pack trip up the west fork a few weeks ago and called the cliff dwellings visitor center 575-536-9344 and talked to their back country ranger "Mike" and he said the trails were in good shape. It might be worth a phone call to see if things have changed.

I'd be interested to hear any updates. I'd like to get further down the Middle Fork than I did last time.
