SUN_HIKER and I are going out for another search for GPS Joe this Thursday 4/12. Sorry for short notice but snow above 6,000' is forecast for Friday and I'll be out of town next week so Thursday had to be the day.
- The plan is to be on the trail before sunrise and keep a good pace up and around to the north below Sheep Mountain.
- The majority of the day will be spent searching on a modified grid pattern in a very specific area.
- We will search until we find something or return to the TH by sunset around 7 pm.
If anyone is interested to join in or provide communication support from Mt Peeley summit (we'll have two-way radios) or any other support role PM me (CannondaleKid) and/or SUN_HIKER ASAP. We will provide the GPS search pattern.
Please note: This is not a formal group event and any participants are responsible for themselves. If two more people join in I have an alternate search pattern for more thorough coverage of the area.
Thanks!
Mark

And a :thanx: for those that have already participated in this effort and may do so again.

Re: Very area-specific GPS Joe search
Thanks Rob!
We have but two goals for today:
1. Track our progress for addition to the general 'knowledge base' of the search for GPS Joe.
2. Stay safe
If we stick to that plan, we will have a successful day. While the chances are admittedly slim and we aren't going to raise our hopes too high, but if we are able to find anything leading to Joe's whereabouts, that would be the wonderful bonus.
#1 should be easy enough, but I'm not so sure of #2...
I don't know how safe I'll be with Gabriele packing a .38. I'll have to be sure not to cross her if I want to make it back home safe.
So please make note.... if Gabriele is the only one to return from this trip, check to see if her .38 has been fired.
If it has you'll probably note it was emptied.
After all, I don't do things halfway, so if I piss her off I'm sure it will cause enough rage to keep her finger squeezing until click, click, click!
Seriously though, we'll be cordial and work together to accomplish our goal for the day.
Your thoughts and prayers are welcomed and desired to help us bring Joe home!
Thanks!

Jeez! Is Mark really that annoying?? Is Gabriele really that unforgiving??
Stay tuned for the next installment!
Seriously, good luck in this latest search.

Re: Very area-specific GPS Joe search
As battered, bruised and bloody both of us are, we returned safely.
Although we found no trace of GPS Joe,
we did cover a pretty good deal of new ground through some of the remotest area to the north below the ridgeline toward Sheep Mountain.
It was rough enough to just get to the area we wanted to search that I believe Gabriele is hanging up her off-trail bush-whacking boots. Here's how grateful Gabriele was to actually get back to a real trail: But with the additional first-hand information I know what the terrain is like to traverse and already am working out the best route for a return trip providing a maximum amount time for searching with the minimum of time used up just getting there. Unfortunately I'll be on a trip out-of-state until 4/25 so it looks like 4/26 or 4/27 will be my next attempt.
I hope to have triplog, GPS track and photos up tomorrow.

Re: Very area-specific GPS Joe search
Good job to both of you. I'm actually surprised that there was a hike out there that could possibly kick Gabrielle's pumpkin, she is one tough lady! Kudos to both of you for giving it your all and going out there....
