Geotagging Photos
We recently purchased the Cannon Powershot sx150is. We have used it on probably a 1/2 dozen hikes. I have posted the pics from this camera many times but our most recent Gordon Creek Falls hike actually geotagged each photo, something it has never done. The only difference being that I posted the gps track from my Garmin too, only because one had not been posted for this hike. I know the camera I am using does not have a built in GPS, so I am assuming that it is communicating with the Garmin somehow, something that it is not an advertised feature of the camera. I looked through the properties of my photos and I don't see where it is logging the coordinates. I am wondering how it is doing this and how, if I want to, can I stop it? I guess I am concerned that by posting pics that I might be posting locations unwittingly, out on a hike no problem but in my house or someone else's home is.

Re: Geotagging Photos
I tagged them in trying to figure out better stats for the description. I didn't see anything that seemed of concern. You can remove them. While viewing your photoset (thumbnail page) there is an edit icon to the right of the state abbreviation. In the edit panel you can sync to a gps route and remove all the codes too. Please note, if you remove the geotags you may have trouble re-coding as your camera thinks it's almost Halloween.
Appreciate the route as the stats were way off!

Re: Geotagging Photos
Tagging these photos or any photos related to hike is no problem and I wouldn't want them removed. It's really exciting that this is a possibility with my current setup but I am just trying to figure out where access to this info is so that it can be restricted it if needed, and or so that I can tag them myself, it's helpful thing when they are tagged while researching hikes.
Yes, we took info from 3 different sites and all of them were different. I am working on a hike description right now, the roads that the hike uses can get a little confusing so a proper description would be nice.the stats were way off!
