Ortega Canyon
This Alamogordo Canyon is one of the nicer drainages in the area, and a good preparation hike for the "bigger" Marble Canyon effort coming up in November. We will depart from the Firestation/Park at the east end of 10th street at 8am Sunday morning. The hike will likely loop up and catch Ortega Peak... so, 3000'+ of gain/loss and around 9 miles. This is a Class I Canyoneering hike... mostly off trail. This is not overly difficult, but it is not for beginners.

Re: Ortega Canyon
whoops... I hit the wrong date button!! Sorry about that... it is the 21st instead of the 28th... on the 28th we'll be hiking Mule Canyon to the abandoned observatory. Also... the 27th: Organ Peak... high point hike over out of Las Cruces... calendar is filling up!
