Now a good time for Cibeque Falls?
It's the beginning of September (2nd) and we would like to go to Cibeque Falls tomorrw or the next day. Has anyone been there very recently? I am curious how the water is running, clear or muddy at the end of the monsoon. It's quite a far piece to get there and permits are not cheap! Would like to go when the water looks pretty good to make it worth our while. Thanks to anyone who can give me some direction regarding this.

The thing is, it is not the end of the monsoon yet. I have not been there, so I can't give a complete comment, but the rains continue, heavily, every day of the week in the White Mountains.

Indeed, the NWS likes to officially say the monsoon goes to the end of the month, and in 2011, it basically did. It could end in a week, or lull and then surge late in the month. Either way, monsoon rain tends to make muddy water, not clear.

If it hasn't rained in the catch area above the falls in a week it should be clear, ten day would be better. A recent rainfall map online would be helpful.

Note that these are RADAR ESTIMATES of total rainfall. The White Mountains are notoriously under-represented by radar coverage because of the distance from the nearest radar sites and the mountainous terrain. You can even see some complete "black holes" in the radar coverage just across into New Mexico as well as the entire Four Corners area.
