Something my family can enjoy together. Preferably a forest with a stream/creek bed and visible wildlife.

My best hikes have often been the unplanned ones.

I like to be :o !

And sometimes :scared: !

And off trail like : rambo : !

Just as long as I am not :stretch: !

Having just updated my top 10 hikes after seven years it just dawned on me that I'm missing that new born spirit of hiking. The euphoria that leaves me tossing and turning the night before a big hike and a good week thereafter. For myself I think experiencing the adventure alone may be key. Which goes back to the Perfect Hike... perhaps Billy had it nailed with the first response at a. By myself for solitude, challenge, and adventure.

@CindyC
Get ahold of me during monsoon season CindyC, you'll find out I'm as patient as a rock and protective as a 15 ton boulder to a rock lizard! Would love to have company once in awhile...

The perfect hike for me is any hike outside of my comfort zone! Most of the time with a photo-bud, but nothing is more soothing than the roar of silence in my head when out and away from other two-legged creatures. A good compass, marking pen and paper, food and drink and the trusted desert hat, that's usually all the companionship needed. But when it comes time for partnering up, a fellow photo bud is perfect.

When I was younger I hoped for that "perfect hike". Now that I am older and wiser, I just hope for that "perfect step".

I can identify with this. Some of my favorite hikes have been with others, and company provides safety and strength, but conversation can very well detract from what's around you.
