Cross F Trail Head on the Saddle Mountain AZT Passage
Description
Saddle up for Saddle Mountain. The Sunflower fire of 20012 burned almost all of Passage 22B of the Saddle Mountain segment of the AZT. The erosion from the fire is beginning to stabilize making this a good time to begin repairing the damaged tread and build cairns. We will be hiking in 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 easy miles from the Cross F Trailhead. No raging rivers to ford or steep mountains to climb. The Cross F TH is accessible from a paved road and is 25 miles north of Fountain Hills and about the same distance South of Payson off of AZ Hwy 87.
