Malapais in the Supersitions

Post by joebartels »

I'll be hitting up Malapais Mountain in the Supersitions. Should be some primo views right smack dab in the middle of the exotic wilderness. Approx 9mi 2,700 AEG. Currently the forecast is for 85 degrees, unless that goes over 95 I'm game with an early morning start. This is an extended version of Geronimo Head not yet posted on site. Part of the ascent is steep on loose terrain. It's rugged off-trail, very little bushwhacking but cacti rich if I remember correctly. I can pickup from downtown PHX to along the US60 if you would like a ride. Probably leave about 5-6am. A hearty but not a fast pace hike as the views are stunning.

Despite all of your battle scars, the views from up there were REALLY amAZing. You could see the lay of the land so well. And since I have only just started hiking out in the area, the pictures give me a better vision of where I've been and where I might be going. So thank you.
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.
