Road Conditions and Pleasant Valley Ranger Station
Learned recently while inquiring about road conditions that the Pleasant Valley ranger station is no longer manned. The answering machine at the station says that it's manned on Thursday, but that is no longer the case. Instead, call the Payson ranger station and ask to speak with Gary Lowman.

@joebartels
Yes, Gary is a nice guy. I’ve talked with him before. He does sound overworked, though, but thinks he’ll be getting another person devoted to his one-man team.

I met Gary some 6 or 7 years ago and if I recall correctly he managed the maintenance for ALL the Forest Roads of in Tonto National Forest. If that's still the case, I'm sure he is kept quite busy.

I think I met same Gary a few years ago at the trail head for Hells Hole. There was construction going on and heavy equipment parked all around. I asked him where I should park so I wouldn't be in the way. He pointed out a spot. Super nice guy if he's the same.
