** warning: this is a fairly difficult hike with possible adverse weather conditions. decide and prepare accordingly :) **

Phoenix folks meetup: February 16th, 10am at Walmart (*address will be private-messaged*)
Tucson folks meetup: February 16th, 12:30pm-ish at Walmart (*address will be private-messaged*)

Trailhead: Super Trail Trailhead (Green Valley, AZ 85614)
Distance: 5 miles round-trip (and an optional 10-mile day trip on Sunday)
Difficulty: Moderate difficulty to camp; Moderate to high on day trip (4000-6000 feet of accumulated elevation gain on day trip)
AEG: 1260ft to camp; 3887ft on day hike
Expected temperatures: 35* to 63* (at camp), below freezing during dayhike
(Similar) Hike Description at HikeArizona: [ Old Baldy - Super Trail Loop ]
Actual GPS Route: [ Route Editor ]
Fee: $5 entrance fee or National Park Pass

- Saturday: Hike in, set up camp
- Sunday: Day hike
- Monday: Break down camp, hike out

If you're doing the Sunday day hike, here are some requirements:
- microspikes/crampons (I may have some you can borrow)
- warm clothing
- gloves
- rain/snow protection (poncho or jacket)
- small daypack
- 2-3L water (10mi). there is filter-able water on this trail

There's a lot of wildlife in the area, so go the extra mile in protecting your food! You could use a bear canister. I might bring a small bucket for us to share . . .

That’s the story, folks!

Here are some further tips:
- Example packing list: ... sp=sharing
- Be prepared for cold weather (could be as low as freezing). bring good sleeping bag and ground mat
- Parts of the trail are steep, so you may want to bring hiking poles
- Bring a water filter or iodine tablets

Getting the GPS route onto your phone:
- Get a account and install RouteScout on your smartphone (available for iOS and Android)
- Press “Import”->”Route Cloud”
- Search for "Mt Wrightson Backpack"
- Select and import it
- Select loaded track and click “follow / load off-line maps”

**i had a friend pass away recently, so it's possible that i'll not attend this trip myself. but if you see this event posted currently, it's on!!!**

I would love to attend this with you but I work that weekend. There is no better place to be than out there when you are hurting inside. Death and the outdoors have a way of making us feel small, yet realize what a huge impact everything has on our lives. Merianne
