Hiking with Dogs in the Tucson area
Every time I look up a hike anywhere in the Tucson area I always get dogs not allowed.
I would think there would be a way to filter dog friendly hikes.

@RowdyandMe
Last I knew the Robles Pass area is/was "dog-friendly". RP is basically an extension of TMP that's just across Ajo Way from where yooz guys hiked a week ago. And if you followed JB's instructions the Chivo Falls (Redington Pass) area should be a dog-hiking heaven. If I'm wrong, though, blame it on JB.

Larry just needs to paint a trekking pole white with a red tip. Sunglasses optional.

If your comment was addressed my way, I said Robles Pass was "basically" an extension of TMP. I failed to mention that it's not part of TMP. The only thing that separates the two parks is a couple of culverts and a high-traffic road, Ajo Way. It's mainly a mountain biking area. But I took some hiking friends with their dogs to RP specifically to avoid TMP's dog restrictions. It was completely legal when I led that hike.

@RowdyandMe
I posted a picture of a person caring her dog in a pack on her back on a no dogs trail, I believe this would be legal since they are not actually on the trail. Of coarse Rowdy is a bit big for that and I get the impression wouldn't be too keen on the idea either.

Re: Hiking with Dogs in the Tucson area
The Robles Pass Trails Park is the area south of Ajo Hwy right there. Dogs are allowed in that 1000 acre park, but must be leashed. Those trails are popular with the mountain bikers, so that makes it a little less enjoyable for hiking. Scroll down in the link to Robles Pass for a park brochure.

Re: Hiking with Dogs in the Tucson area
As of today, I've been forced to "eat some crow". There are leash restrictions on dogs at RP. I biked at RP almost from its inception 10-15 years ago when it was little more than a neighborhood dumping area. I always thought RP was a separate entity from TMP, and don't know if that was always the case or if the two were incorporated into one somewhere along the line. That said does anyone know of a good condiment to make crow a little more palatable?

Trails parks are a new category of parks in Pima County.

A little late! But at least you saved me from having to gag down the second one, though.

Re: Hiking with Dogs in the Tucson area
@LindaAnn
Thanks for the information as I been running into issues about hiking with Rowdy.
I even looked it up on the Hiking Project which is part of REI which list all those trails as no dogs allowed.
I guess I will try and put all those trails together and do them all at once.
