Munds Creek

Post by CindyC »

My daughter's boyfriend's great, great grandparents are the Thompson family. One of the original settlers in Oak Creek (what a nice legacy). They were up there this weekend for a family reunion and she said they explored around Munds Creek. She said the water was colder than Oak Creek and that there were lots of deep pools. I looked up the Munds Mtn trail but it says there is no water source. Does anyone know where Munds Creek runs through and of any trails? She said it was absolutely beautiful. Thanks.

I'm not sure on what would be considered Munds Creek.

From what I can tell, all the streams coming off Munds Mountain are intermittent

I'd venture to guess it's the perennial stream coming down Munds Canyon. Munds Canyon isn't really connected to Munds Mountain. It starts at Munds Park on I-17. Odell and Foxboro lakes contribute to the creek. However, they're both dammed up. It's actually dry in the upper canyon. The creek starts further down and is spring fed. It hits Oak Creek right about Indian Gardens. If that's the area then they are privilaged as it's private property.

That must be it. She said it was right by Indian Gardens. She said some of the area they went through belonged to their family and others but I was hoping there was a public access to this creek. Maybe I can use my 'one day we'll all be family' bit and they'll allow me to use it?!
