I found a video made by a guy who hiked down the Weatherford Trail from Doyle Peak. Starts about 14:00 in. Looks bad, and who knows what it will look like when it opens up as there are huge gullies.

Re: Weatherford Trail Post Pipeline Fire
I'm glad I hiked it when I did. It does look pretty bad, but I've done worse in Idaho and in other places that burned. I'm also glad I don't hike with anyone making videos, because I think it creates a need to obliterate the silence with excess whining.Jim_H wrote: ↑Dec 01 2023 12:45 pm [ youtube video ]

Too bad to see Weatherford looking like that. I liked it so much better than the trail to Humphreys out of Snowbowl!
The guy in the video seems unaware, but it's also illegal to hike above treeline on Agassiz in summer. This is to protect a threatened endemic tundra species.

Yeah, I watched that video too. The erosion and gullies are worse than I expected—it almost doesn’t look like the same trail. I remember hiking Weatherford back in late summer 2019, and the switchbacks through the aspens were stunning. It had such a peaceful feel, especially compared to the crowded routes on Humphreys. Really sad to see it torn up like that. Definitely changes the vibe.
The dude filming didn’t seem super informed, which is kinda common in hiking videos nowadays. I’ve actually been dabbling in making trail vids myself using guides like this one on the best video editing software for beginners. Helped a ton in not making the same clueless rookie mistakes.
