Road to 4 Peaks (FS143)

Post by AZHikr4444 »

Does anyone know if this road is open from the Beeline? Last time I was past the road was about a month ago (I think Tonto was still closed then) and the barricades were still up.

Please let me know if you have any info!

Thanks!

FR143 is open off the Beeline

However it's closed a few miles in at the first major left turn.
Only the south area over through the rolls is open.

Apparently the area somewhere between Mesquite Wash to the Cline area was part of the complex fire. Burn maps are available on the FS website. Anyhow that whole area is closed to let the area recover from the burn. At least that was the case a week ago.

I'm not sure if the Roosevelt side is closed or not. Looking at the map only the very beginning of the road was part of the burn. Which I can't image too much burning since it was all burned about ten years ago.

Just call the FS they're very willing to answer questions.

Not sure what it is not either but I have a friend that went to drive to hike Browns peak about 2 months ago, he said the first 15 miles or so of road were open then it was blocked off at the top. He was pissed, just drove his 1960's VW Bus all the way up that thing to have to turn around. Guess he should have checked first.
