Humphries > Weatherford > Kachina Loop?
Has anyone hiked Humphries to Weatherford to Kachina and back to the ski area? I'm looking for a long day hike on Sunday and was thinking about this but I'm not sure of the mileage. Looks like about 20 miles?

May be a bit late now but I'll throw my two cents in. I've done it in reverse - Kachina to Weatherford to Humphries. I did it as an overnight and am glad I did. There's a lot of elevation change on this hike and at the high elevations you will move much slower than you are accustomed to. A day hike may be pushing it - if I wanted to do it as a dayhike I might go camp at the trailhead the night before to acclimatize a little. Also, there is no water on this hike unless you go in early season and melt snow.

Re: Humphries > Weatherford > Kachina Loop?
In response to jaybird's reply:
I did it from Shultz Tank... up Weatherford, then to Humphrey's - down to the ski area (cool beverage) then the Kachina to Weatherford & back to Shultz Tank.
Not that tough, really. 9 hours for the loop if memory serves.
I'd concur w/Lizard on the O/N stay prior, if at all possible.

ahh-ha!
I realize it's too late, but I've been curious. Looking for something else I came across a map. It's an "Emmit Barks Cartography - Flagstaff Trails Map"
It's 17.2 miles for the loop plus looks like maybe an additional 0.1 to 0.2 to walk between the two trailheads. That's the immediate loop. A jaunt to the peak adds 2.0 miles.

I ended up doing this hike yesterday as a long day hike. I decided to get the climbing done first, esp with the iffy weather conditions. I could better judge the weather from the saddle.
I don't think its worth its own write-up, but maybe a page with links to the three trails and overall statistics for the loop might be handy for others. I have an emmitts barks map also and with the summit its 19.2 miles plus the TH to TH walk if you stay on course the whole way.
