Any car OK for Sedona?

Post by sueoz »

Hi - planning to day hike while in Sedona. We have a Ford Taurus type car reserved for now. For most day hikes do we need something with more clearance or all wheel/4WD?
Thanks, sue

What hikes are you looking at?

Back in September, Secret Canyon and Bear Sign required high clearance across the creek. Don't know if they have graded the creek. If they have, these should be ok in a Taurus.

Otherwise I think every trail was reachable in a Taurus. I agree 110% with mikeinFHAZ :D

No, no, no, you absolutely MUST drive a Hummer, and ONLY a Hummer, while you're in Sedona!
Make sure all your hiking gear is brand new and from Abercrombie and Fitch, also. Otherwise they might think you're a homeless person and arrest you for vagrancy.

And whatever you do, don't leave home without a copy of your Sedona Vortex Map! Here, I'll be a pal and provide it for you!

Wow, I had no idea that junipers become twisted because of The Vortex! The whole Paria Plateau must be one giant one then with all them twisty trees.

In fact, there must be a vortex located at the site of almost every single juniper tree in the world...

I think sueoz has quit listening. I was going to say, when going to Sedona, one must be sure to get one's crystals tuned.

still listening!

i'm still here! Just being entertained. If I tell my husband we're hiking to find vortex's - he'll run the other way. We think a good hike anywhere and especially in Sedona is spiritual enough all on it's own!

Glad to hear the regular car is ok. The AWD and 4WD cars were going a couple hundred more for the week.

Thanks! sue

Just don't plan on parking near any trail head or you will be ticketed. If I were you I would find somewhere, anywhere other than Sedona to go. Try Moab, the Hollywood Nazi's havent taken it over yet.

What are they going to do if you don't pay it, send out the forest police?

I think sue has been there, back and had children since that post.

They weren't regulating parking, but I think some of the other stuff there is just as bad...
