Iso - T-storms

Post by Cakewalk »

Weather.com is forcasting isolated thunder storms for monday-thursday next week for the phoenix metroplex. I doubt we will see anything, but it does give a glimmer of hope.... and the threat of fire caused by lightning strikes

G's we just cant win...

Lets hope it turns into more then just isolated t-storms.
I just looked up weather.com and both Flag and Pheonix said the same thing. Hope its more then just a fire starter

Just got back from the Bell Trail a couple hours ago.

I'm VERY happy to report the typical storm breaking off the rim was very close to reality today. I left around 12:30 and it was the big billowy clouds with BLACK under carriages collecting outta nowhere since 9am. Just as I was leaving they where taking over. Of course only in that area.

Oh the smell! You have the hot day with the COOL winds rushing in that SPRING forest scent. Ahh, it was incredible! Oh life is good!

The clouds have been building up like that every day this week but nothing happens! Standard Navajo joke at Cameron is that the Hopis are flaking on the job ;) My Robert said it rained at Cameron yesterday--he could feel a drop on his arm. Did y'all see that article in the Arizona Repulsive yesterday about how dry it is on the reserve?

Yes Mary, actually saw the newscast. Showing the Indians tanking in water. Said they are selling there livestock at young ages to avoid total loss. Said Northern AZ is experiencing conditions never RECORDED before! That really puts the "bone" in dry!

I really haven't a clue on camping spots. My eye just isn't trained for such. I bet somebody here knows though! (don't be shy!)

The area in general is looking pretty good. Probably why it's one of the few things open. The water level didn't seem noticably low in my opinion. The garbage is still tucked here and there  I totally forgot to bring a plastic bag, I only squeezed out two crushed beer cans.

It was fairly busy for a Tuesday morning, I'm sure parking is backed up to the road on weekends. I've hiked the trail maybe 5 or 6 times. Everytime I go I feel like I'm missing out on something that would be better. I don't know whY! I come home excited every time!

I'm dusting off my brain here, but is the bell trail the trail that kind of, but not quite, follows wet beaver creek? The name sounds familier.
I like to hike in the creek and bushwack around the pools. There is some beautiful red rock back there.

Yup, that's the one, but dig this daddy-o, I'm headed up there to truck camp and day hike/mtb this weekend and according to the Sedona Ranger District this a.m., they'll close Bell Trail at the wilderness border, Apache Maid and Long Canyon Trails this weekend. Dang!
