Working and working.
I'm going to also try to learn most of the trails in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve.
There's more than you think, or can see on the maps.

I've decided to learn all the trails at Usery...and write up trail descriptions for them...I think I've got about 3 already, with two more ready to go once I take a few photos to submit along with the descriptions...
I've also been riding my (new) road bike alot...I'm almost as fast as Lance..
I acquired the bike as a result of what we used to refer to in the fraternity as a "dumbguy"...Colin buys a 2002 Nissan Xterra World Campionship Sport edition...the one with the neoprene seatcovers, roof gearbasket, internal bike rack and K2 Attack 3.0 mountain bike back in October...relatives visit in March, showing them around the house, we go into the garage and then back inside...Colin leaves the garage door open....forgets to check it before going to bed....gets up at 5 for his run the next morning...there is one less bike hanging in the garage...4 bikes to choose from, my thief takes the most expensive one...with a flat tire even...so, filed an insurance claim, bought a road bike (Trek 1000)
Thought some of you may get a chuckle out of my dumbguy...

Well... I went to REI last night - is that exciting
Actually, I wanted to mention they've undergone one MASSIVE remodel
I swear I was there just last week, but maybe not. Anyhow, they've ripped off the front facia and stripped all the floors. Some walls and ceiling too, I think. When I first drove up I thought they were closed as all the windows are plywood

More time with the fam
I have been sleepin in on Saturday. My wife is loving it. I am always up and gone before she even wakes up - Saturday included. Now, with all the slacking in my hiking I've been doing, shes gotten the chance to wake up next to me for a few weeks. Then I get to go and wake up the boy - which just thrills him. Good times.
If I'm not careful I could get used to this and never do an early morning hike again! Yikes!
Other than that - not doing a whole lot different.

Go Colin! So I'll be watching you on OLN, pulling Lance up the Pyrennes and the Alps? There is nothing like a good road bike. That is an awesome experience.
Yes I have been flying all over. The end of June and December are always big fly times for me. Today I was up on the Utah border, tomarrow Flagstaff, with Durango, Gallup and Mesquite, Nevada are on my list in the next two weeks with Grants, NM a maybe. I will have my hiking gear with me to take advantage of any opportunities. After my last scare in Durango, maybe I'll take my ultra-light spin setup and see if I can hook into any big, bad boys in the Animas. That is a beautiful river. After a couple hours of that I'll go try to get myself in trouble hiking.

Well...
I have built a shrine in my backyard dedicated to the hiking and monsoon gods.
Hopefully one of them will hear my cries

No Glen...I'm sitting out the Tour this year...with Pantani and Ulrich gone, there just isn't enough competition for me...though I will enjoy listening to Phil Ligget call the stages...BoyNhisDog wrote:Go Colin! So I'll be watching you on OLN, pulling Lance up the Pyrennes and the Alps?
Hey Glen...my wife and I will be in Durango in early August...care to recommend a place to dine? or a short hike?

Hi All,
Whew, I finally got back in. Got a new 'puter and was having trouble but Joe helped me out. Thx Joe. Anyhow, been doing my FAVORITE summertime pasttime, the one I look forward to all winter - SCRAPBOOKING - (hence, Azscrapper). I have turned out some REALLY great hiking pages. The new stuff they've come up with at the scrapbook store are awesome. When I get a chance I'll see if I can finally find a cool place to post 'em where I can show you all my work seeing as how some of you are in the pictures, hehe. Yahoo and MSN have let me down on their picture showing/web page hosting offers.
Also keeping up the workout at World Gym to keep my self in hiking shape and to off-set all the parties and BBQ's I've been to lately. Not to mention the Chili Shindig coming up ~ can't wait.
Happy summer everyone.

Scrapping
My wife is into the scrapbooking thing as well. She's done some great stuff. It's not a bad deal. Much more entertaining than looking at reem after reem of pictures that mean nothing without context.
Your idea is great - I'll have to start taking more pictures of my hikes so she can create some good scrapbook pages for me.

Rear Window
I'm feeling a bit like Cary Grant in Hitchcocks "Rear Window". I sit in my office and watch the lizards scurry on the wall and note the arrival and departure times of my neighbors in case the police ever have a reason to ask me.
At least I'm not hearing those voices any more, lol.
Patty and I are leaving in the morning to meet friends in Durango Colorado and we intend to drive on to Denver on business. Hopefully I'll get some firest hand updates and photos to share with everyone in regards to the fire situation.
