Body found in Coronado National Forest

Post by Jeffshadows »

The Cochise County Sheriff's Department say a body was found in the Coronado National Forest Thursday just before noon.

The body of a female was found at the base of a 150 foot cliff, about one mile north of the border, and just south of the entrance of the Coronado National Monument.
A spokesperson with the Cochise County Sheriff's Department tells News 4 that the body had been there for a couple of months. News 4 was also told that it is believed the woman fell from the cliff to her death. The spokesperson said there were items found near the body that led to her identity; she was from Mexico believed to be an illegal immigrant. It took over two hours, 22 personnel on the scene, 15 search and rescue personnel, and five Cochise County deputies to get the body down the mountain.

Mountain extraction usually takes at least 15 people to retrieve one person.

Some of the extras may have been police if they don't think it was an accident.

If the body had been there for a couple of months ... (not to be too gross, but nature happens) ... was there really that much left to retrieve?

Cloth, skin, bones and some internal organs. Flies lay their eggs on a body almost immediately after death. Once they hatch the process of decomposing increases rapidly with each day. The last to go is the contents within the skull. And yes it is gross!
A man's body may grow old, but inside his spirit can still be as young and restless as ever.

It's possible that they had a few extra folks around for training purposes.

Some may have been volunteers as well. A lot of them may have wanted or needed some training on a real-life scenario, as opposed to practice scenarios.
