central SUPES water conditions?

this question is for anyone who has recently been in the area around Fish Creek Upper, Frog Tanks, Rogers Canyon or Angel Basin - can you confirm reliable/filterable water in any pools along any of these routes?

i am aware that there is a strong possibility of water in large pools in Upper Fish Creek between Frog Tanks and Goat Canyon, but im asking directly here, if anyone knows for sure.

I'm wary of water reports. HAZ folks are more reliable than anyone else, but I just can't help carrying that extra 3l.

The only time you can COUNT on water in the Superstitions is when its raining and sometimes not even then. Carry extra and suck it up!

In response to te-wa:Unlikely of use to you but in the central most region... Upper Geronimo's Ravine had some pools up to 10-20 gallons. And the ravine up to Malapais had a whopping liter. It would have to be filtered for all but the hearty. Perhaps an indication of what you might find in that vicinity nonetheless...

Unfortunately the predicted rain never hit in the wilderness today.

water found in the deep pool in fish creek, 1/2 mile downstream from the Frog Tanks intersection. It was a dirty green tint. Also there is a seep about 100 yds downstream from that, which holds enough water for about 3 gallons' filtering. It is found on the Northern side of the drainage. You can see water trickling down the rock face into a small natural basin. Then several yards upstream from the big pool i found a deep pocket about 50 gallons that was clear. This is likely the only water to be had down in these canyons after this poor rainy season.

Does anyone have an idea of water available currently in the Supes. Was thinking of heading along Bluff Springs loop or somewhere in that area as an overnighter if there's any H2O. Other thoughts of where there may be water at this time? Thanks.

Charlebois Spring and Labarge Spring always have water.

Ok I am always a little worried about giving water reports when its not an established Spring, however, near the confluence of Roger's Canyon and Rough Canyon along Frog Tanks trail there is significant water if you make a short detour up Rough Canyon. I don't imagine you would even have to go a half mile, but there was significant water two weekends ago, I pumped two liters on a day hike with an HAZ guy. If the initial pools look bad, just push up canyon a little more, you will even find some very deep pools. I noted to guy I was hiking with, that there was enough water, that one could comfortably camp along Frog Tanks near where Rough Canyon meets Roger's Canyon...there is also some nice sites in the area if you look around...

I know things change quickly, but I would be comfortable going out there and finding water to camp myself so I dont mind mentioning, it may be a little off your itinerary, but I would say that is your best bet along Frog Tanks, you will also be just a few miles from Angel Basin, Rogers Canyon is BONE DRY. I am sure you have it covered, but Rough Canyon is marked by a large rock spire with a natural arch in it, cant miss, right before where Frog Tanks makes its climb out of Rogers.

yeah rough canyon was pretty cool, ive not hiked the entire length of it yet.. dropped in from about 1/2 mile west of the Reavis trail. we did find large pools in the canyon, one that kept a man alive for a couple days after a knee injury.

I actually got poison ivy in that canyon, so that leads me to believe it stays semi-wet in some of those spots for pretty long period.

Ya, I always shiver when I hear Rough Canyon after listening to that guy's tale of the broken knee cap and his stay until rescued. MUCH tougher than I!!
