"Climbing the Ladder Less Traveled" - by Joe Bill
I just finished this little gem. It's a collection of interviews with different Arizona fire lookouts around the high country. It has wonderful insights into life on the towers and many funny, and harrowing stories of what it's actually like to live and work in these remote and beautiful locations. There are some common threads of thought and philosophy between the lookouts and some good observations about how to enjoy life to its fullest.
I found a copy at Wide World of Maps and I see it's available at amazon.com too.
Good readin' for anyone with an interest in nature and the great outdoors... that would be us! I'm ready to fill out an application right now!
