Romero Canyon Sunday March 14
Rescheduling this one from originally planned on Feb. 14. My ankle is holding up very now, so by the time this one happens it should be almost normal. Leaving Mesa at 5:30am.

Re: Romero Canyon Sunday March 14
We talked earlier about a shuttle hike. It's 7.2 miles one-way to Romero Pass from Catalina State Park. From there it's:
11.1 miles to Esperero Canyon TH
17.2 miles to Pima Canyon TH
12.1 miles to Ventana Canyon TH
9.3 miles to the upper Sabino Canyon tram stop
A shuttle would result in a looooong day. Pima Canyon TH is only about 10 minutes from Catalina State Park, but Catalina SP is easily 20 minutes one-way from Sabino Canyon

Re: Romero Canyon Sunday March 14
I'm thinking lets just make it an out and back. It will be a long enough of a day to drive there from Mesa and deal with the RenFest traffic on the way back. If I had monday off like I did when I did the original planning, maybe. but for now, i say let's just to go romero pass and back.

That's cool. I have to get my camp set up @ General Hitchcock campground after the hike so the earlier the better.

Re: Romero Canyon Sunday March 14
Looks like the washes might be a challenge, but I think we can get around (or thru) it somehow. I'm thinking we (me, Groth, and johnlp) can meet at the Lowe's by Higley and Southern about 5:30am considering everyone's locations. Let me know if anyone has a different idea or preference on meeting place.

Re: Romero Canyon Sunday March 14
Just got back from there. Your gonna get wet right off... crossing the wash....when you get to the pools pick your route carefully...along with the upper pools and crosses before Romero Pass. Romero pass has a little snow up top...enough to be a nuisance...Big nuisance if you where Teva'sStiller wrote: the washes might be a challenge

edit...it was a long day..that should be wear not where

Nonsense, nobody would hike through snow in sandals. I have no clue who posted my avatar either.
The snow will likely be gone by mid afternoon tomorrow on the upper Romero Trail.
