24 Hour Backpack - Mt. Wrightson

Post by writelots »

I've set up a quickie for the ABC, and since there are a few folks around here who've expressed interest in doing this one, I thought I'd throw it out over here, too. this will be a single nighter, using the Super-Loop to hit the peak of Wrightson then come back down to a comfy camp at Josephine Saddle. We'll probably leave all of our backpacking gear there at the saddle to make it easier, though we'll have to hide it to keep those evil drug runners from making off with our super light fancy stuff ;)

The plan is to leave from my place at 7am. That should put us on the trail somewhere between 8-8:30 depending on how good I am at herding cats.

I signed up for this one on the ABC site. Been wanting to hike this area for a very long time now! Anyone else who is going from Tempe/Phx PM me if interested in carpooling.

Anyone know if any of the springs are running? Just want to plan accordingly.

I'm on ABC too. Wendy is making me go, again. She's good at that. I tried my best to edge out of this one after talking myself in circles about making it ](*,) . But Wendy said specifically:
As for Wrightson, I'm not letting you off that hook.
For me, sometimes it's just as much about the journey as the destination.
Oh, and once in awhile, don't forget to look back at the trail you've traveled.

@writelots
I'm thinking this is more appropriate: :guilty: with a big "W"
or this as we slog up that mountain :bdh: and in the end perhaps this :stretch:.

Meanwhile until then I will be doing this

And in 2 months, we get to repeat this all over again. Oh my!

oh, and by the time these two backpack/hikes are over with me.... you may genuinely feel like your avatar :D .

Sincerely though, thx for pushing me.

Hey ladies,
You might want to check on H2O status with USFS; I just ran into a guy at work who did a Florida backpack last weekend and he seemed to think it was pretty dry up there.

We're planning on packing in our water. Luckily, we only have to haul the extra as far as Josephine. That's the best way I know to ensure that there's plenty of water in Sprung Spring... :?

I'll second that. Baldy should be at least trickling, though...
