Inner Basin Main Cirque

Post by Jim »

After hiking Humphrey with Jake ( the Cirque Hike Author), and also Elizabeth and George today, I thought it might be neat to hike up to the Main Cirque just below Humphrey and have a look around. There was basically no snow to deal with on the trail, so I figure the snow in the Inner Basin shouldn't be too hard to hike over or get around. It will be too early to have lots of flowers in the Cirque, so this will be partly a Congressional fact finding mission, and partly to play a little in the snow that lingers in the upper cirque.

This hike would be excellent for dogs and I welcome them.

Jake and I will do this at least once more in the later half of July to thoroughly inspect the flowers.

Can't make your 6/19 trek, but I'd be interested in a mid-July hike. Maybe an overnight camp in Locket Meadow? :)

For July I'll be pushing for a Monday or Wednesday. The last week of July is likely.

Your hike will probably be around the 26th to the 28th of July then?

For a number of reasons, I have changed this to Sunday. I expect a huge increase in turn out as a result.

Sounds fun. I may be in Flag tomorrow (Mon) again. Not sure yet. See PM, Jim. If I do a hike it needs to be Elden or something sort of quick, from which I can get back on the 40 and go home easily.

I'm doing this route, Saturday.....but will continue on to the Agassiz/Humphrey saddle to bag and tag Humphrey and then circle back to Agassiz then down the usual inner basin trail. Has anyone ventured this climb from the Cirque to the Saddle?
