Camelback Summit via Echo Canyon

Post by demanieshs »

Join us for a nice Saturday morning hike! Leaving the trailhead at 5:15am (weather should be cooler and parking should be easier at that time)

Is that your evil boot camp instructor start time? :scared: :)

Do you have to pay to park yet? Did that start in Aug? But they were going to issue warnings for 6 mos?
Thought I read that somewhere,.... may have been Joe's post.

Azcentral.com had an article about the new pay to park system and according to the article the first six months (starting in August) is a trial period. They would only issue warnings intended on educating the public about the new system. I hike Echo back in mid August and there were no signs or anything else that talked about paying to park. There were some pamphlets by the water that talked about fighting the new program. That's it.

Echo is a great trail to hike! That is definitely an early start! I've been hiking Camelback all summer starting around 6pm and it's wonderful at that time! I am going to miss the summer. :-$

HA! Very funny, Kenny. and yes, it is :) It was pretty dark out this morning at 5 so I'm bringing a cap light. it'll be nice to watch the sun come up (and it will while we're up there as long as we go sooooper slow. lol.) ok, so I'll at least see the warm glow of sunrise. hope to cross your path and might actually recognize you. ha ha

We've had a good response on Facebook- I think there will be about 6-8 hikers so far.

Ha ha! What a fun hike! I'm definitely doing this one again. Maybe alone so I don't have to stop so much :) we ended up starting at 5:15- had 2 facebookers come (i figured only a few would actually make it out for a 5am hike), and it was nice to see you on the trail, Kenny! :)

Nice to see you to! :)
Looked like you were draging two anchors when I passed you on the way up :( ... had to make my time. ;)
I will post a few pics soon. The lady eating the big bag of Lay's is going up for sure. Everyone hikes to burn off the chips, she is the first one I have seen refueling at the top. :sl:
