Pyramid Peak in Anthem

Post by SpiderLegs »

I'm crashing in Anthem for a few weeks and noticed this peak on the east side of the freeway when I pulled onto Anthem Way. Looked it up on HAZ and could not find a single trip report, went to Summit Post and nothing there either. Then did a Google search and found the same - zilch. Only Pyramid Peak that I could find was 8 miles away in a different range. Anyone know about this peak? It's right at the intersection of New River Road and E. Circle Mountain Road. Tops out at 2600 feet and looks like an interesting scramble.

I haven't been up it but it should be an easy scramble. In the same area are Daisy Mtn and Gavilan Peak, both decent workouts. Daisy has several fairly well defined trails, Gavilan is probably best done by scrambling up the scree gully on the north side.

Gavilan Peak is probably the one you noticed. It does have a HAZ page here: http://hikearizona.com/decoder.php?ZTN=1841

I stand corrected, drove around yesterday evening trying to look for a trailhead and noticed that what I was looking at was indeed Gavilan Peak. Pyramid Peak is still interesting but only a real quick scramble from what I could see up close. Might have some class 3 possibilities to add a little more interest.
